Delighted to find this 1919 map of Cheung Chau online.
It gives us the position and orientation of all the houses at that time.
It also gives us the IL numbers of all the houses and the line of the 1919 Boundary Stones.

Order of building
Do we think IL numbers might suggest the order that the houses were built?
Order of building
There are probably execptions, but I assume the lower the lot number, the older the lot.
However for buildings it would depend when the lots were created. If they were all created at the same time initially, then sold as needed, there wouldn't be any connection between building age and lot number. But if lots were created as there were requests for new building land, there would be that connection.
If you can choose the Cheung Chau houses where you feel confident of their completion date, you can compare them with their lot numbers to see if the connection is there or not.
