Po Hing Theatre (2nd generation) / 普慶戲院 [1928-1955]

Notes from Raymond Lo on Cinema Treasures:

[...] It was built on the site of the previous Po Hing Theatre. "Po Hing", meaning "celebrations all over the world", is the Cantonese prounciation of its Chinese name.

The theatre opened to business in December 1928, and [...] on 27th July, 1955, it closed its doors [...].

Astor Theatre / 普慶戲院, Nathan Road [1957-1987]

Notes from Raymond Lo on Cinema Treasures:

The theatre opened to business on 24th December, 1957 with Doris Day in "Pajama Game".

It closed its doors on 1st October, 1987.

A hotel with two mini cinemas was built on the site of the theatre.

The Chinese name of the Astor Theatre (普慶戲院) was the same as the Po Hing Theatre.

Queen's Theatre (1st generation) / 皇后戲院 [1924-1958]

One change in the appearance is the concrete canopy seen in later photos. Vincent writes:

There was no concrete canopy at the theatre entrance in photographs taken in 1945 or before.  Probably the canopy was built in 1947.
