Hi thete,
There is a Manhole Cover Exhibition at CACHe now. It is approaching its last leg of the slot, but if you are in the area it is worth a visit.
The exhibition is a small one. Anyone who had been to CACHe would know the room is not that big. But the exhibition covered from the ship-building and foundry industires, with scaled models of wooden moulds of the covers. There are also a small collection of the covers in the room.
A copy of the original is available at HKGRO: http://sunzi.lib.hku.hk/hkgro/view/a1936/979.pdf

I saw what looks a lot like a War Department boundary stone at Stanley Military Cemetery yesterday, it's buried up to a point that no markings are visible. See picture, can anyone comment/confirm?
Hi Everyone,
I'm new here at GWULO and I find this website very informative and educational. I have an inquiry about an old address which I find very difficult to locate
since I always get confused about old Hong Kong map markings (M.L. and I.L.) versus original street numbers before and after the reclamations

The Hong Kong Branch of the Orders and Medals Research Society will host a talk by local historian and author Tony Banham, on Saturday 28 April, on his latest book titled “Reduced to a Symbolical Scale.”
The book traces the evacuation of some 3500 British family members from HK to Australia, from 1940, in the face of Japanese aggrandizement in Asia. This subject is a fascinating one and Tony has uncovered some wonderful stories during his research.
Everything I have read has Leigh & Orange being founded in 1874 as Sharp & Danby. However, as far as i can see, Sharp & Danby was not founded until the 1st April 1879. (The partnership was dissolved in 1881)
W Danby is listed as late as 1878 being employed as a Draftsman & Clerk of Works in the Surveyor General's Department. Does anyone have any evidence that Danby started a firm in 1874 or should the founding date of Leigh & Orange be 1st April 1879.
Temporary Remark: Problems that occurred during the update of this post, will be fixed soon
The extent of the 1850/60's Praya Reclamation is shown in https://gwulo.com/node/40695.
There it says:
I followed a thread from a previous post as per the below;

I have found my grandfather's name listed as a crown sergeant but would like to find more information on his service record with the Police. I have also seen an address and phone number posted as per the below and wonder whether they are able to help.
I found this photo of the Scout helicopter on line, https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/registration/XW612 and it was described as taken at Edinburgh!
It must have been in Hong Kong, so I submitted the correction to change it to "Hong Kong' and was accepted.
However, I was asked to identify the exact location, where the photo was taken. Can anybody help?
