Full disclosure, I am doing research for an article about overhead utility lines in 19th and early 20th Century Hong Kong for www.cityunseen.hk. City Unseen is a non-profit educational project about Hong Kong's built environment.
I've been trying to identify utility poles in old photographs of Hong Kong, and was wondering if anyone could provide any expertise. I will credit you if you wish to be credited.

There's a photo of a street scene in HKU Library's Frank Fischbeck collection that claims to be somewhere in Hong Kong in the 1920s but I suspect it might not be.
My reasons:

I've added a new overlay layer to our maps, showing aerial photos of Hong Kong taken by an American plane on 1 Feb 1945. You can view the layer on any of Gwulo's maps by selecting '1945 Aerial' in the Layer Switcher at the top right corner. Click here to see an example.
I am aware that the foundation stone for the current St John's Cathedral was laid by Sir John Davis on 11 March 1847 and that the first service in the new building was held 2 years later on 11 March 1849.
However, the church registers go back several years before the church was built. Is there any indication where the church was situated prior to the actual building being built?
Thanks
Dasha
Carol singing, scripture reading, and a short Christmas message, followed by a visit from
Father Christmas, were among the festivities which took place on Christmas Day at the Alliance
Children Hostel for the children of missionaries, at Nos. 5-7, Belfran Road, Kowloon Tong.
During the course of the Christmas service, the following carols, were sung by the children:
"While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night," "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful,"
"Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," and "Silent Night, Holy Night."
