Abel Walker HALL [1908-1990]

Abel Walker Hall was an American missionary serving the Assemblies of God Church. Hall and his wife, Nell married in 1936 and set sail for China on Christmas Day of the same year. They arrived in Hong Kong and later pioneered a church in Tai Po Market. By December 1941, the Halls had two sons, Arlin, aged 3 and Cecil, a baby only six weeks old. Both children were born in Hong Kong.

Florence Elizabeth RAETZ (aka Beth) [1935-2007]

Born to missionary parents. Florence and Erwin William Raetz in 1935.

Repatriated on the Gripsholm in 1942. The arrival of the Raetz family in the United States is mentioned here in The Daily News Times, Neenah, Menasha, Wisconsin on 26 August 1942.

In 1946, the Raetz family moved to Canton, China but later was forced to leave and settle in Hong Kong. They returned to the United States in December 1950.

Paul Erwin RAETZ [1937-2015]

Born to missionary parents, Florence and Erwin William Raetz in Hong Kong in 1937.

The Raetz family was repatriated on the Gripsholm in 1942. Their arrival in the United States is mentioned here in The Daily News Times, Neenah, Menasha, Wisconsin on 26 August 1942.

In 1946, the Raetz family moved to Canton, China but later was forced to leave and settle in Hong Kong. They returned to the United States in December 1950.

Raymond Tyson MOYER [1899-1993]

Raymond Tyson Moyer was a missionary, teacher and agricultural expert. After his graduation from Oberlin College in 1921, he was sent to their mission school, Ming Hsien Christian School in Taigu, Shanxi. At Ming Hsien, Moyer later headed their agricultural department and established a programme aimed at improving the farming methods of rural Shanxi province.

Julia A. ANDERSON (née PETERSON) [1872-1958]

Julia A. Anderson and her husband, Benjamin L. Anderson were missionaries and arrived in China in about 1905/06. Through their hard work and devotion, they helped and established a strong Adventist presence in the province of Fujian.

In May 1938, Julia Anderson left for Hong Kong due to the Sino-Japanese War whilst her husband stayed behind in Kulangsu. He was later interned. After Hong Kong had fallen, she was sent to Stanley Internment Camp and later was repatriated with other Americans to the United States.

Born in Hong Kong to American missionaries, Catherine and Harland A. Park. 

The Assemblies of God Heritage Magazine (Winter 1991) has an article on "Missionaries Caught in the Crossfire" in Hong Kong during the Japanese invasion. The Park family and their fellow missionaries are mentioned, including photos of themselves on board the exchange ship "Gripsholm". See here

Born in Hong Kong to American missionaries, Catherine and Harland A. Park.

Catherine Elizabeth Day PARK [1909-1961]

Catherine Park and her husband, Harland A. Park were American missionaries serving the Assemblies of God Church. They came to Hong Kong in 1930 and went into China in 1931. In 1936, she became Principal of the First Assembly of God Church Primary School in Hong Kong. 

Harland A. PARK [1907-1971]

Harland A. Park and his wife, Catherine Park were American missionaries serving the Assemblies of God Church. They came to Hong Kong in 1930 and went into China in 1931. He later became Superintendent of the South China District of the Assemblies of God.
