Since uploading my photo of Stitt the lion outside the HSBC bank I have come across this letter sent to me in 1993 by a Major John Devonshire. It refers to my husband's national service in Hong Kong and I am wondering if anyone can shed any more light on the British Intelligence referred to or the Hong Kong Rifle Association, this is what it says: -
My dad served in Sek Kong from December 1957 to 1958. Does anyone remember him? Dave Gray from Dorset.
I'm trying to trace one of my mother's cousins who was orphaned in 1930, when she was only 2 years old. There were no other family members in HK, and she was allegedly adopted locally. Was there any formal system for managing adoptions in HK then? If so, was it government controlled, or organised by church or charity organisations, and might any records exist that I could examine when I next visit HK (probably next summer)?
I saw them today at the university quarters along Pok Fu Lam Road. They look familiar, but I can't remember where I've seen them before.
Anybody know its history? I could not find any thing from internet and the Church's homepage. Moreover, no e-mail response was received from this Church.

I'm a new subscriber and would be grateful for some help. I'm looking for a coroners report from August 1858. The coroner was Mr May and it concerned the accidental death of a member of HM Medical Staff Corps.

I've just been involved in an interesting exchange on my blog concerning the old GPO pillars that we discovered had been moved to Kwun Yam Shan inside Kadoorie Farm in Tai Po. Anyway, the chat got quite interesting and I figured it would be nice if any of the local readers on Gwulo can shed some light on to the findings.
