 I came across the following url, with some great pre war pictures of Hong Kong.

Great pictures but some also look to have been taken in Macau - specifically afew under the Les environs de Hong-Kong heading at the bottom. One looks like the old ferry pier seen from behind A-Ma Temple.

If it is the Wanchai Market in Wanchai Road/Queen's Road East that you are talking about, then actually it is being redeveloped now.  The exterior wall and some main structure would be preserved.  Part of it had already been demolished.

9th row looks to have a shot taken along Repulse Bay Rd with the turret of Eucliffe poking up (and of course, the hotel in the background)
