Old Hong Kong: Three and a half exhibitions

Here are a few exhibitions on around Hong Kong you might like to visit. All are open to the public, with free admission:

Til 1st Oct, The 23rd Annual Mapping of Asia Exhibition

This is held at the Wattis Fine Art Gallery on Hollywood Road. I haven't been along yet, but will make the effort to visit before it finishes. Unfortunately I doubt I'll be able to afford anything (the exhibits are for sale), but they're lovely to look at! Details on the Wattis website.

Lost of unnamed street at Wan Chai on 1935

Anybody have idea of the unammed street mentioned below in Government Gazette in 1935? Any map of 1935 or before show this street?

Hong Kong Corps of Air Raid Wardens photos and badge

Dear friends,

I am a serving officer of the Civil Aid Service, Hong Kong , and I am writing a article on the history of CAS, as part of the CAS 60th Anniversary Commemorative Magazine . I shall be very grateful if someone would give me a hand. I need some photos of the Hong Kong Corps of Air Raid Wardens, and her badges. These pictures will be use illustrate the pre-war history of CAS.

How big is the photo?

The size of the printed photo is shown under each catalogue entry.

eg If you look at this "View over Aberdeen Harbour" photo, you'll see "Size: 10 x 6.3 inches.". So the printed photo is 10 inches wide by 6.3 inches tall.

Each photo is surrounded by a half-inch white border. So in the above example, the size of the card you'll receive is 11 x 7.3 inches.

Baptisms / Marriages St. John's Cathedral - Apr 1929-Apr 1931

Transcription from the St. John's Review Church magazine. These are from the first three annual volumes kept in the St. John's Cathedral Library.

The St. John's Review replaced the Cathedral Notes, copies of which are kept in the Public Records Office.

Naming of Warren Street, Tai Hang

Anybody know the naming of Warren Street? Would it refer to Capt Willian Lewis Warren who became the personal secretaary to the HK Governor in Sept 1901?

History Ho Mun Tin Catholic Cemetery

Anybody know the history and photos of Ho Mun Tin Catholic Cemetery (Kowloon I.L. No. 2148) which I found it from the Gov't Gazette of 27.6.1930? Is "Ho Mun Tin" the same as Ho Man Tin ?

Kwok family mansion at 24 MacDonnell Rd (Mid-Levels)

Does anyone have any photos and/or stories about the Kwok family mansion formerly at 24 MacDonnell Road (Mid-Levels) near the botanical garden & YWCA? The four-story house was torn down and replaced by a 23-story apt bldg (The Silvercrest) which opened in 1984.

Also, did this same family once own a large parcel of land in the Mid-Levels once called The Kwok Family Compound? Any stories on that?
