Hong Kong police in the 1920s

Hello

I'm currently writing a fiction book, where one of the characters is an ex-Hong Kong policeman. He would have been based there in the 1920s.

I have found lots of general information about HK in those times, which seem to have been very eventful, but I would really like to get hold of some material specifically about the police force. Most of the books I have found are from later on in the 1950s or 1960s.

It's the day to day detail I need, such as routine, ranks of police, the structure, duties etc. Anything would be useful.

Internet Explorer 9 can't post comments

If you are using Internet Explorer 9, you'll probably see error messages if you try and post a comment, and then you won't be able to post the comment successfully.

There are upgrades available to fix this, so I'll install them over the next few days.

The problem happens when you're trying to add text using the editor in the blue box in the center of the page. The temporary workaround is to click the 'Disable rich-text' link below the blue box. That hides the editor, and so lets you type plain text, and post it successfully.

Royal Engineer 1900s

I'm helping my mother with some family history research.  A distant relative was in the Royal Engineers serving in Hong Kong in the 1900s.  He came out to Hong Kong between 1902 and 1906 with his wife and child.  A subsequent child was born in Hong Kong in 1906.  I'm looking to build up a picture of their life here.  I'm planning to look at newspaper records at the HKPL for passenger lists to see if I can establish when they arrived and departed and the baptism records at the Public Records Office to see if they had their child baptised.
