Images currently on ebay for sale - Hong Kong races
You've probably all got these images on your radar, but I've only just spotted them. Up for sale on ebay with just a few hours left, some stunning pics of Hong Kong races.
Sorry, we don't have any photos with this tag yet.

I have just re-read James Clavell's masterpiece Noble House. If any other gwulo members have read the book or seen the miniseries, there are some things I would like to discuss (especially the financial dealing)
First, Struan's is reportedly based on Jardine and Rothwell-Gornt is Butterfield Swire. What about the other companies mentioned in the novel, who were they based on in reality? Specifically I am wondering about the following:
There is a query from Sean as to whether the Management of Happy Valley bears responsibility for repairing the graves and removing trees or branches that may be causing damage. Unfortunately this seems to be the responsibility of the heirs. I can only speak for St Michael’s where there is a list of charges for renovations and removals displayed in the office. Proof of descent/ownership has to be established, either by producing the original ownership document of the grave, or birth certificates.
(If you'd like to see an example of a finished diary on Gwulo.com, please visit Barbara Anslow's diary.)
To add another diary, first you'll need to create a new Book / Document (and optionally a Person page for the author), then you'll add Pages to it.
Here's how:
1. Log in.
What was the name of Pottinger Street before it was named as Pottinger Street in 1858??
Here are some very detailed 360-degree panoramas of Hong Kong:

I'm not familiar with how the Carl Smith Collection works. I found
several references to names I am seeking information on, with
card numbers listed. How does one in the US obtain more information
or a reliable mediary to get that information.
My recollections are that my family sailed from Hong Kong to Australia in late 1955 on a ship named the ss Changsha.
It is just odd I cannot find any record of the Changsha sailing at that time (1950s). Records I've found put a ship known as the ss Changsha as being new around 1886 and she was sunk in the war in 1941. The ship we sailed on was certainly not that old! Perhaps another ship was later named the Changsha?
A couple of events on this weekend:
1. Visit to Battlefield Sites of the Six-Day War of 1899.
Saturday 3rd March. Only four places left.
A tour led by Dr Pat Hase. I went along on this last year and it was very interesting - recommended!
2. Stampex 2012.
Fri - Sun, 2-4 March.
I just saw a poster for this at lunchtime. I haven't been before, but it looks worth a visit.
Hi there,
Just recognized the government had put up a street index online for such look-up. It is an on-line only PDF document. Google Chrome not supported yet. Might be useful looking up current land lots.
Best Regards,
