Though described as a temporary pier, it was here for over 16 years.
Notes from Moddsey on http://gwulo.com/node/7000#comment-14020:
In November 1892, a contract was signed for the construction of a temporary pier opposite Ice House St for the purposes of accommodating ferry and other traffic plying from Pedder's Wharf and constructing Section No. 7 of the praya reclamation works.
Ferries on the Hong Kong-Macau route had previously departed from the older OSK / Custodian Wharf. The service moved here on 1 June 1961.
In the mid-1980s the Hong Kong-Macau ferries moved to the current Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal.
I've set the completion date to April 1958, based on this entry from page 210 of the 1956 Hong Kong Annual Report:
Hi there,
Spotted this one while on a bus on-route to Siu Lam last week. This pier is a mirror image of the one in Apleichau. Realized it was Shell by way of the canisters painted in Royal Blue.
Best Regards,

When Connaught Road was the shoreline, there were many piers along the road.
At the eastern end was this pier, much smaller and plainer than its neighbours.
This pier is shown on Plate 3-5a of Mapping Hong Kong, marked "Ferry to Mong Kok & Sham Shui Po".
On Plate 3-5b it is simply marked "Govt Pier", probably because the ferry services had re-located to the then new Vehicular Ferry Pier between Jubilee Street and Queen Victoria Street.
Hi there,
I could not remember exactly where was the old pier. There used to be both a passenger ferry pier and a vehicular pier there. The marker's location is just an approximation. The pier was gone when Aldrich Bay was filled up for redevelopment in early 1980's.
Best Regards,
