Dragon Palace (Tsing Yi) / 龍都戲院 [1989-????]

Internet search thus far has identified few information.  Only the theatre's Chinese name is available and I have assumed its English name to be Dragon Palace.  The theatre was located on level 3 in the 5-storey Cheung Fat Shopping Centre (長發商場) ​with the address at Cheung Fat Plaza, Tsing Yi, New Territories, Hong Kong.  One source states that it was the first theatre built in Tsing Yi.

UA Cityplaza Cinema (Taikoo Shing) / UA 太古城 [1996-2017]

Seating capacity: 7 screens, total 1,215.

Address: Cityplaza 1, 18 Taikoo Shing Road, Hong Kong

UA Cityplaza Cinema started operating on June 14, 1996.  According o Cinema Treasures, its last day of operation was on February 23, 2017.  Following a  visit by one Gwulo reader to the site on February 27, it was reported that the place had been boarded up.  An update will be provided when further news become available.

Dragon Gate~Golden Dragon Theatre (Cheung Chau) / 金門~金龍戲院 [1957-1980]

Seating capacity:  Two different numbers are given in the sources for the Golden Dragon Theatre , 618 and 700.

Address: 1 Tai Tsoi Yuen Road, Cheung Chau (Island), Hong Kong.  Golden Dragon Garden is the current occupant at the site.

Dragon Gate Theatre was the first theatre to open in 1957.  Some time in the early 1960s, the theatre was renamed Golden Dragon Theatre.  It closed in late 1970s or early 1980s.  For the purpose of this page, its closing date is estimated to be January 1980.

AMC Festival Walk Cinema / AMC 又一城戲院 [1998-2016]

Seating capacity: 11 screens, total 1,874 seats.

Address: 80 Tat Chee Avenue, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong

AMC Festival Walk Cinema was the first cinema to operate in the shopping mall called Festival Walk.  The mall was constructed during the period 1994-1998.  An unique feature of the mall is that the tunnels for the current MTR run through the site.

GV Hollywood (Diamond Hill) / GV 荷里活 (鑽石山) [1997-2011]

嘉禾GV荷里活, or Golden Harvest GV Hollywood, was the first theatre to operate in Plaza Hollywood which was constructed in 1997.  The theatre started operating in June 1997.  It had six screens having seating capacities ranging from 225 to 348.  About 10 years after opening, the theatre was renovated, and renamed  嘉禾荷里活 (Golden Harvest Hollywood).

Olympian City / 奧海城戲院 [2001-2013]

Address: 18 Hoi Ting Road, Tai Kok Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong.  A shopping complex called Olympian City 2 (second generation).

Olympian City - Broadway Circuit operated during the period December 15, 2001 - Septmber 15, 2013.  Later that year, on December 24, the 嘉禾 the sky (奧運) started operating, and it continous to operate today.  One viewer's comments (source below) recall watching the different movies and saved the ticket stubs for memory sake.  So true, we remember our theatres also by the movies we watched there.

UA Langham Place (Mong Kok) / UA 朗豪坊戲院 [2004-2014]

UA Langham Place operated during the period November 5, 2004 - July 1, 2014.  It was one of the first tenants in the new mall constructed in 2004. As with some theatres that were about to close, it offered free admission on the last day of operation, July 1, no seat reservation, to thank patrons for their support.  The place was later turned into Cinema City Langham which continues to operate today.

Kam Sing~New Port Theatre / 金聲~新寶戲院 [1984-2004]

Address: 60 Soy Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong.  Southeast corner of Soy Street - Fa Yuen Street intersection.

The first theatre to operate at the site was 金聲戲院 which, for this page, is translated to Kam Sing Theatre.  It opened some time in 1984 until April 16, 2004.  The operating period for this page applies only to this retired theatre.  The sources listed below contain some comments from movie-goers.
