Shau Kei Wan Inland Lot

Submitted by lolau on

The land in Shau Kei Wan and Sai Wan Ho (or even more surrounding area) are allocated by using SIL (Shau Kei Wan Inland Lot). It is different from other areas in HK Island i.e. IL (Inland Lot). Anyone know why it comes out especially anyone know the first sale of land of Shau Kei Wan?

Did you know ?

That in 1900 LegCo noted that the community of Hong Kong had raised some HKD153,000 - as relief for soldiers and sailors engaged in the Boer War. In a demonstration of Imperial largesse the Council voted the sum of HKD50,000 to the same cause. From Public Funds of course.

Pls help on identifying some places off Hong Kong

Greetings to everyone!

Some time before I have found an useful information on your site, now I'm glad to join your community. Hope you can help me with following:

I need to find Chinese names for some English toponyms nearby Hong Kong and vice versa.

For example, I know that Bias Bay once was 湃亞士灣, now it is 大亞灣.

I don't know the pairs for:

Tsiech Point

Kweilin Island

Reef Island

紅海灣

碣石灣

Unknown house in Chung Hom Kok

Submitted by Brenda on

There is a movie called "Lost Romance" made in 1986 with Maggie Cheung and Chow Yun Fat the leading actor and actress.  It was shot in a house at Chung Hom Kok as confirmed by Yo Fan, the director.  The movie is available online at http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTE3NzQzNzI4.html.  I love both the exterior (1:43) and interior (2:51) of the house and I really want to know if it is still here today! Anyone can shed some light on where it is and probably the history/owner of it??
