Oh boy!
A photo got posted on Gwulo showing a building on the Peak that I don't ever remember seeing before. And when you are talking about The Peak before 1938, that's pretty impressive. After all, I'm the gal who penned the page … “First Houses on the Peak”.

I am a screenwriter researching a script, and seeking stories about female expatriates who came on their own terms to Hong Kong to work in the early 20th century, and particularly post WWII. What kind of life experiences propelled them here, what opportunities, and organizations brought them here to work as nurses, or teachers, or civil servants, or anything else.

While cleaning up at home I’ve come across some old photographs which have the names of some old photography studios in Hong Kong. I suspect they would all be Kowloon-based.
Anyone heard of United Colour Studios or Mainland Studios?
In Selwyn-Clarke's pre-war outline of the Plan he states that 21 First Aid Posts were planned, but in his report written after the war he says that 19 were used:
some nineteen premises were taken over to serve as first-aid posts. For the most part, schools were used for this purpose, since it had been decided that it would be dangerous to continue schools during hostilities.

These are the Casualty Clearing Stations I've been able to find references to.
In a speech in 1940 Dr. Selwyn-Clarke, the Director of Medical Services, gave a few details of the (secret) Medical Defence Plan to be put into operation in the event of war.
He said that in addition to the peacetime provision there were to be eight relief hospitals and the same number of Casualty Clearing Stations. There were also to be First Aid Posts - other sources give the number as 10-12.
I'm trying to establish what actually happened in December 1941 and I would be grateful for any comments on or additions to the lists I have compiled from various sources:
