My grandfather Mak Hin For (麥顯科) owned and ran a pharmacy in Central (my uncle remembers it to be on a road with electric tram) before he immigrated to Canada in the mid-1960s with his 8 children.
The pharmacy was named 中大. This is the only information I have. I've been interviewing all my aunts and uncles and gone through all our photos but we didn't have many photos of the family in HK
We have already noted in La Nature the principal types of special funicular or rack railways established in recent years on the flank of the mountains and which are of particular interest because of their steep gradients. The one whose view we represent in figure (fig. 1) which is installed in the island of Hong Kong which is, as we know, in front of the mouth of the Yangtze near Canton; it thus comes to us from China in a way, although it is established, in fact, on an island which has now become an English colony.
There are a numbering of interesting recollections about police dogs after WW11 on this site. Does anyone have any evidence that dogs were used by the police before the war?

Hi, does anyone have any information or photos of the old building that was at 332-334 Portland Street. It was demolished in the very early 1990s and the Bulkin Centre built in 1993.
Hi, does anyone have a old photos of the Dragon Ball Restaurant, 664-674 Shanghai Street in Mong Kok ?
I know the building was demolished in 1971 and a new building built in 1973 which was then called the Tin Fung Restaurant.
I'm currently in the process of converting some of the locations identified on this Chinese wiki page (hat tip to Aldi for tracking it down in the first place) into places on the Gwulo map. If anyone knows of any photographs that show the various places logged, it would be great if we could include them on Gwulo. At the moment I am having to settle for outline maps and aerial images.
