These are surely the best-known Japanese tunnels in Hong kong. The "Outlying Islands" sheet of the Countryside map series shows the location of one of them, titled 'Cave Kamikaze". That trips off the tongue, but of course it is really a man-made tunnel, not a natural cave.
After tunnel #1, we carried on up the hill looking for more. We found this one near the first peak. I think I have the marker at the right place on the satellite image, but just look for the big rocks in the left of this photo.

This one is near the YMCA. I'll get some photos off my friend who took loads when we went there a couple of weeks ago. In Pretty good condition but with a few hideously ugly centipedes inside.
This is the first tunnel we found on Lamma. A lot of earth has washed into this tunnel, something we also noted on the other Lamma tunnels. The vegetation is quite sparse on the hillsides, much less than on HK island, and perhaps that's one reason for all the debris getting washed into the tunnels.
Just up the HK trail from Mt Parker Rd. About 30m up past H059 Marker. It lead all the way under the trail itself.
There about 10 tunnels with fox holes around this small area. Most are blocked up, but there are two that lead into big caverns. However the tunnels have a 10 foot drop to get in!
Two tunnels close together. One small one with a dead end about 4m deep. The other leads around the hil to annother exit.
