John Black's list gives Mrs Taylor's occupation in 1941 as "Housewife". It also shows her DoB as 1889, but a family member wrote to let me know the correct year was 1888.

He left the Police Force in 1955, as reported on page 22 of the March 1956 edition of the Hongkong Police Magazine:

Inspector A. Soutar who has completed twenty-six years service with the Force, left the Colony for New Zealand on a well earned retirement on 1st, November, 1955.

DoB from John Black's list, which gives Mr Mansell's occupation in 1941 as "Public Works Dept."

He is listed on page J114 of the Civil Establishments of Hongkong for the Year 1939 as an Overseer in the Public Works Dept., appointed on 16th Feb 1934, which is also the date of his first appointment to the HK Government.
