He is listed on page J102 of the 1939 Blue Book as working in the government's Wireless and Broadcasting Department as a Wireless Engineer. He started work there on 2nd Dec 1938.

DoB from John Black's list, which gives Mrs Braithwaite's occupation in 1941 as "Teacher".

I didn't find named Braithwaite in the 1939 Blue Book, or any relevant natches in the newspapers at MMIS.
