Betty Mary Theresa LLOYD OR XAVIER (née HO) [1922-????]

Married Francisco Maria Xavier. Had a child, Dorothy Maria Xavier. Francisco died after being released from a prison camp. Betty married a man with the surname Lloyd. In 1952 Betty and Mary travelled to the UK on the Dilwara. In 1955 Betty returned to Hong Kong on the Canton, leaving her daughter in Wales with her stepfather and that was the last time her daughter saw her. Her daughter who is now in her 80s would very much like to know when and how her mother died and if she has any Xavier relatives in Hong Kong.

I am hoping to be able to achieve three basic purposes here: contribute information for everyone's benefit; research my late wife's ancestry and, very important, to let any of my wife's friends from the 50s and 60s who are not aware of it that my wife of 55 years, Victoria (aka "VICKY") Frances Eleanor Sanchez, born in Hong Kong on 16th August 1945, passed away from breast cancer in Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada on 17th June 2023.

Delfino Noronha was a leading figure in the Portuguese community in Hong Kong for more than half a century, and blazed a trail that others would follow with determination. He was perhaps 20 when about 1844 he set up in Hong Kong what would eventually become the colony's leading printery, which he ran until his death in 1900.
