I am not sure where to start here, in spite of the fact that I have been looking through GWULO for some time now. I am hoping to be able to achieve three basic purposes here: contribute information for everyone's benefit; research my late wife's ancestry and, very important, to let any of my wife's friends from the 50s and 60s who are not aware of it that my wife of 55 years, Victoria (aka "VICKY") Frances Eleanor Sanchez, born in Hong Kong on 16th August 1945, passed away from breast cancer in Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada on 17th June 2023. Her obituary may be viewed on Elliot Lake Today : link at bottom of message.
My wife's father was Francisco Sanchez (from Lima, Peru) who died in Hong Kong on 15th August 1954; and her mother was Helen (aka HELENA) June Kew, born in Hong Kong on 21st June 1908 and died in Toronto, Canada.
There are some references to Victoria and her mother in Peter Hall's books "In The Web" and refers prominently to Charles Herbert Whiteley Kew in (if I recall correctly) Maryborough, Australia.
Just a point of clarification lest anyone puzzle over comments in Victoria's obituary. We were penpals as teenagers from the late 1950s and finally met when I flew to Hong Kong on Sunday, 30th April 1967 and I stayed at the August Moon Hotel on Kimberley Road in Kowloon. At that time Victoria lived with her family in St. Joseph's Building on Robinson Road. She was teaching at a school which I vaguely recall as being on or near Po Hing Fong Street or Po Yan - vague unreliable fragmented memory. As a schoolgirl she attended Sacred Heart Canossian Convent.
No doubt some of this will mean something to one or two people.
Anyone who does wish to contact me may do so at: Tembo@gmx.fr
For the record, Victoria's funeral is accessible worldwide on google drive.

re: Victoria Frances Eleanor MCEVOY
Hello Rory,
Thank you for posting your comment. I've moved it over here to its own 'Person' page for your late wife, so it has the best chance to be seen by readers. I've also added a page for your mother-in-law, also under your account, so you can see the connections to some other family members that already have pages here on Gwulo.
Best regards, David
