This was the last and largest of the piers known as Pedder's Wharf. It was built slightly west from the previous pier, so that it followed the centre-line of Pedder Street.
In 1910, the government sold the existing pier at this site and the rights to build a new one (See S.190). It seems at least part of the reason for the change was an expectation of more traffic once the KCR was complete. Under "Special Covenants and Conditions" we see:
A map from the 1940s (Plate 3-5b, Mapping Hong Kong) shows this pier at the end of Fleming Road. I'm not sure exactly what the 'G.P.' stood for - 'General Pier' perhaps? It's where rubbish was loaded onto barges.
Any ideas what happened to the rubbish after that?

Though it was described as a stone bridge, it was actually a pier, extending out into the shallow waters of Kowloon Bay. It was first built in the 1870s by the Chinese government, enabling easier access to Kowloon City by boat.
The pier changed shape several times, as reclamation ate it up from the landward end, and different extensions were added to it at the seaward end.
It disappeared from sight completely in 1942, during reclamation for the expansion of Kai-Tak airport by the Japanese.
Reclamation meant it had to move here from it's previous location at Edinburgh Place.
This pier was built after reclamation put an end to the first Queen's Pier.
Recent reclamation means this pier has gone too.
