I have since found a James William MacLeod (as spelt on the Roll), a member of the Hong Kong Naval Dockyard Defence Force, enlisted October 1939, who was a POW for the duration of the Pacific war from 25 Dec.1941 until Sep.1945. Might this person be the missing J W MacLeod, who did not die in WW2, but was mistakenly stated as such?
J.W. MacLeod was a Major in the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps during the Battle of Hong Kong. Captured by Japanese forces in December 1941, MacLeod was subsequently imprisoned in the Argyle Street POW Camp and later moved to the Sham Shui Po Camp, as documented in the
