Ellen Frances WHITELEY [1887-????]

Tony Banham has kindly extracted the full name of Mrs Whiteley, my cousin's godmother and her family members from his list of Stanley Camp internees. She is Ellen Frances Whiteley of 16 Broadwood Road (not 17 as previously posted). Her husband was William Henry Whiteley, (b. 11.10. 85) also interned. Their daughter was probably (Muriel) Joan Whiteley (b. 27.10.16) referred to in James O'Toole's diary entry of 22 August 1945 at

DoB from John Black's list, which gives Mrs Davis' occupation in 1941 as "Housewife".

Henry Ching writes:

Elaine Davis – wife of Professor S.G.Davis of the Geography Department, Hong Kong University. He was in the HKVDC. I think she worked in the Government public relations office and was interned in Stanley.

Mary Hope GOODBAN (née SIMPSON) [1912-2002]

DoB from John Black's list, which gives Mrs Goodban's occupation in 1941 as "Housewife".

Mary Goodban – wife of Gerald Goodban, headmaster of the Diocesan Boys’ School. He was a despatch rider in the HKVDC. She was interned in Stanley.
