On the Garden of Remembrance photo one building of the Murray Barracks is still there, on the Cricket Club one it is gone. Herostratus gave the demolition year as 1962. So it is from 1963 or even younger.
Addendum: Harcourt Road was opened in 1961, possibly repair works shown.
Cricket is being played - typically the season runs from September to April.
Given the little building of Murray Barracks is completely obliterated and a well used car park is already established, the window of this photo should be about October 1962-April 1963, weighted more towards 1963.
Addendum: This photo below is from the other side and is reasonably dated to 1964 and it shows the car park as being more established which gives me greater confidence the above photo is early 1963.
1. Construction of Sutherland House started in 1965 (I do not have the demolition of HK Club Annex at hand). It was still ongoing and up to a considerable height in Oct, 1966.
A rough look at the shadow shows it's about Sept-Nov or Jan-Mar. So the photo date would be 1965-early 1966.
2. This is a small portion an aerial view of Central (HKU Lib repository has a copy but I need to find the link). In the un-cropped version, more hints point to Oct-1965, including the Prince's Building, celebration of National Day of PRC, the "Statue Square Garden"-to-be, buildings along Kennedy Road, which may further narrow down to c. Oct 1965.
Yes good one. The Hong Kong Club Annexe south of Mercury House is obliterated so it has to be after January 1965 as a bare minimum when demolition was ongoing in 1965.

The demolished building was…
The demolished building was 2 Connaught Road / New Oriental Building [1898-c.1955]. At the bottom is the junction of Connaught and Murray Roads. The construction of Harcourt Road has begun.
The City Hal multistorey car…
The City Hall multistorey car park along with the City Hall is already there
Compare with this photo from 30th August 1962 it's clear the above photo is even after that date of 30th August 1962
HK club annexe building
HK club annexe also missing.
Details of demolition are found here:https://gwulo.com/comment/50194#17~22.28126~114.16141~Map_by_GovHK-Mark…
So, this means the image has to be after or around 1965.

Re: Main Photo
The top portion of the main photo merges nicely with the bottom part of the photo below which should give a better indication of the photo date.

Thanks for the detective…
Thanks for the detective work on this one. I've set the date to 1965.
I've also replaced 2 Connaught Road / New Oriental Building [1898-c.1955] with Vacant lot, 1 & 2 Connaught Road [1960-c.1971] in the Shows place(s):.
