Although this is under my name, it's David I have to thank for initiating this - his idea and his work in scanning and putting this all up.  Thanks, David!

Patricia

You're very welcome - I've been thinking for ways to cooperate with authors writing about Hong Kong history. Posting the index seems a good way to show what's in the book and also attract visitors to Gwulo, so hopefully it is good for both of us. Fingers crossed other authors will let us post their index too.

Regards, David

David - please could you link Mrs Ramsey, Marion, daughter of William and Isabella Lysaught up to "Maria Ramsey" gwulo.com/node/34209 She was wife and then widow of Alfred Formosa Ramsey. Mrs Ramsey crosses into my Warren family landscape and I'm still on the look out for a possible reference to her in the newspapers or a Lysaught wedding photo in which she might appear.

Jill

I see my great grandfather Emerson Gibson listed in the contents. He married Elizabeth Johanna Lysaught. I am trying to find more information about her, as my ancestry DNA results are showing Chinese heritage and I would love to know which person that came from. I believe her Mother's maiden name was Hindman but that could be incorrect. I also saw her father's name listed as John Lysaught on an obituary. There seems to be other Lysaught people on many of these pages but I have no idea if they are even related to Elizabeth. Any tips are welcome.
Sincerely,
Jessica

Hi Joanna

Elizabeth was the second daughter of William Lysaught and Isabella, previously Dixon, née Pereiera. I you go to my webstie - www.socialhistoryhk.com - and check the 'Insight' tab, you'll see a page for family trees - the Lysaught one is the first. There is a lot of information on the Lysaught family in my book, Policing Hong Kong an Irish History,  which you can buy from the Gwulo website or in bookshops if you're in Hong Kong. William Lysaught was from Newmarket, Co. Cork, and the first man from there to venture to Hong Kong. Isabella, originally from Macao, was Portuguese/Macanese - although in appearance very Portuguese, like many with Macanese heritage, she may well have had Chinese blood too. You'll find my email on my website - come back to me if I can help you more

kind regards

Patricia
