Scottish Masonic Quadrille Association

Submitted by jill on

The Calico Ball held by the Scottish Masonic Quadrille Association on 3rd April 1907 was the final of the Association’s monthly dances and was reported in all the newspapers. 2021-02-27 i-Cable interview

Submitted by David on

i-Cable invited me on to their Wish TV programme (小事大意義) to talk about old Hong Kong photos, the Gwulo website, and one of the site's most touching stories.

The video starts at the Peak, using old photos to show how the famous view has changed over the years. Then we visit my home to look at how I work with the photos, before heading outdoors again to look at changes in Wanchai.

Hello all,

Along with the Japanese dog tag pictured below, I also dug up two more items.  All found in the hills below Jardine's Lookout, Wong Nai Chong area.  Can anyone enlighten me as to what they are/what they were used for.  Thank you.

Submitted by patricia on

Next Wednesday, 3rd March, I will be speaking for the Royal Asiatic Society on Women, Crime and the Courts-Hong Kong 1841-1941, which was recently published in HK by Blacksmith Books. The talk will be on zoom and is free to attend - you don't have to be a member of the RAS.  I'll be telling some of the stories from the book and a few additional ones, with some of the background and context of women's lives in this period.
