She lived in Block 5, [Married Quarters, Stanley Internment Camp], with husband,and 2 children from her previous marriage - Betty and Jacky FitzGerald, both of whom were half-Chinese with American connections, and were repatriated with the Americans in June 1942.

In December 1941 he was a Government clerk.

[In 1941, my sister] Olive was engaged to Sam ('Topper') Brown of the Royal Artillery.
Topper died as a p.o.w in Japan.

[In late 1941] I had an unserious boyfriend - Band Sergeant Arthur Alsey, of the Royal Scots.
Arthur survived the sinking of the Lisbon Maru, and the subsequent years as a POW in Japan.

In 1941 my sister Mabel had a serious boyfriend in the Royal Scots Band, a pianist and clarinetist named Harry Hale (known by his second name 'Sid').

Barbara Redwood: In 1941 he was Deputy Director of ARP (Air Raid Precautions).
