This suggests that she had probably been living in Hong Kong with her husband (who worked at the Kowloon Branch of the HSBC) but had returned to the UK. It was difficult for British women and their children to enter Hong Kong after the evacuation of summer 1940, so she probably returned before that date and somehow manged to avoid being sent to Australia.
