In the 1945 photo of HKU posted recently, an 8-sided roof down in the foreground caught my eye:
One of the dams surrounding the Shing Mun Reservoir.
The dam was built across the old Pineapple Pass. The Pass took its name from the pineapple crop that was grown in the valley. See http://gwulo.com/node/34413 for details.
Married Police Quarters were completed in 1915 so demolish date set as 1913
Geoff Wellstead says that people living in Quarry Bay called this the "Bungalow Dam" reservoir. If anyone can tell us its formal name, please let us know.
Hi there,
I believe we have missed this. Found an online document showing the old service reservoir was a covered brick work marvel. Unfortunately it had been retired and demonished. In its place now is a concrete box for Salt Water for flushing.

The AMO write:
Lower Shing Mun Reservoir (下城門水塘) was built between 1961 and
1965 as part of Stage I of the Plover Cove Water Scheme and built to back up
the Shing Mun (Jubilee) Reservoir 城門(銀禧)水塘. It was built on the site of
an old wolfram (鎢) mine opened by a European company at various points in
the slope of Needle Hill. The Reservoir was built for storing the overflow from
Shing Mun (Jubilee) Reservoir and is connected to the Kowloon Group of
Reservoirs and the Sha Tin Treatment Works (沙田濾水廠).
History:
Tai Tam Water Supply System possessed a potential for development because of its geographical location and conditions. It is the main source of water supply in early 20th century. The Tai Tam Extension Project involved the construction of the Tai Tam Tuk Reservoir in phase two.
