DoB from John Black's list, which gives Mr Kelly's occupation as "Police".

The Bibliography in "The Quest of Noel Croucher: Hong Kong's Quiet Philanthropist" notes that Fred Kelly kept a diary in Stanley Camp in 1945:

Kelly, Fred. The Diary of Inspector Fred Kelly of the Royal Hong Kong Police Force: compiled during his internment in Stanley Detention Camp (21 January 1942-31 August 1945). Hong Kong: Public Records Office, 1974.

John Black's list gives Dr. Barwell's occupation in 1941 as "Medical Officer".

Alan Barwell was a medical doctor.

Philip Ernest WITHAM [1899-1955]

John Black's list gives Date of Birth as 1900, and profession as "Tea Adviser to the Chinese Govt".

He was husband of Joan. Their young son was also interned at Stanley.

We get to hear a little about his background a lecture he gave in 1947. He was introduced as follows:

DoB from John Black's list, which gives Heath's occupation in 1941 as "Ships Officer".
