He must have regretted his decision to work in Hong Kong, as he arrived on 14th November 1941, less than a month before the fighting started:
No. 1380.—The Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies has been pleased to approve the appointment of Mr. Thomas Arthur Lawrence Concannon, F.R.I.B.A.., to be an Architect, Public Works Department, with effect from 8th September, 1941, inclusive.
