Mr Harris was the Managing Director of Rediffusion in Hong Kong. Long-time DJ, Mr Ray Cordeiro (Uncle Ray) mentioned it was this American man who employed him (such as in this article: https://www.scmp.com/magazines/post-magazine/arts-music/article/1006141/record).
Former Rediffusion broadcaster 李平富 mentioned described Mr Harris in his book, '我的身歷聲' [Chinese; available at public libraries, call number 557.769391 4013]:

Here's his entry in the 1941 Jurors List:

Am looking for any information on Francis Parkman Knight (1831-1880), an American Consulate officer stationed in Newchwang, China in 1862 and died in Shanghai. I am trying to determine if he is the father of Yuk-Hing Lai (1870-1945), the 2nd wife of Sir Ho Kai (1859-1914).
He had a son named Kennitt Stephen Knight.
Kennitt had a son name Thomas Leonard Knight.
Thomas had a son named David Francis Knight (1933- ) born in HK, interned there during WWII.
During the War my father Leo was a volunteer , and captured and was in camp..he was in the kitchens so survived ....helped build the airport…
After the war, Leo went to China Building and found where Jimmy’s Kitchen had been..and then stumbled into some of his faithful staff (there were some extraordinary people there, brave Chinese..Sammy the manager etc) and they put together chairs etc they found around..and the restaurant came back to life..only with their help.
From the mentions in Eric Macnider's Diary, it looks as though Mr Higgins was an American priest.
