Gladys Emma DONNITHORNE (née INGRAM) [1891-1977]

Gladys Emma Ingram was born in Oakville, India in 1891, and was part of a large family.  Her father was a barrister.

The family returned to England and she grew up in Wimbledon, London, not far from the equally large Donnithorne family. The two families were destined to become very close as four Ingram children were to marry four Donnithorne children.

Arratoon Vertannes APCAR [1872-1931]

Mr Arratoon Vertannes Apcar was a shipping merchant and long time Hong Kong resident of some 38 years and descended from the Armenian Apcar family originally from Persia. He was the managing director and founder of Messrs. A.V. Apcar and Co. Ltd.. He started in the opium business but later founded the firm of merchants and commission agents which bore his name. For some years the firm was agents in Hong Kong for the Ultramarino Bank of Macao.

From what is available online, Haji Mamod(Mahomed), Rana' ran a shop in Macau on 29,31 rua central between 1881-1900's then shifted to 51,52 Rua central with his sons, Ramtoola(?) and Abdool(?).

Benjamin Robert STANFORD [1843-1892]

British shipwright in Hong Kong. Admitted as partner of J. MacDonald and Co., shipwrights Hong Kong 1868 (although on Hong Kong Jury List for 1863 already working for same company) and then the business carried on under his own name from 1st Janaury 1874. He was declared bankrupt by June 1876. He later worked as a probationary lightkeeper in Shanghai appointed 01/04/1883 but was shortly discharged from duty 1st June 1883. At the time of his death in 1892 he was living with a Japanese woman in a small shanty near Fandin-go with his occuaption documented as a boat builder.
