Broadwood Villa
Used to live there in 1968 until moving up to Bonham Road.
Broadwood Road 1970?
I'm not sure of the dates of the two following maps, but one is dated 1970. Do you know what happened to the house at no. 13? Was it renumbered 12A? I'm sorry the numbers haven't come out very distinctly.
The Olsons
Number 13 was a 2-storey villa and somewhat grander than most of the others. It was built in 1915-16 by C E Warren and Co Ltd.
John Olson (2) and his wife Annie were the first occupants of number 13 in 1916. They named it Ridge House. The house was continuously listed to John Olson from 1915-1934, although not living there latterly.
Leaving brother Charles to manage his business interests, John 2 retired young, left Hong Kong, and took Annie and their four sons to England to live there permanently.
It seems that Charles Olson with wife Ethel then took over occupancy of 13 Broadwood Road. Charles had left C E Warren & Co and in 1917 was working for Thoresen and Co Shipping Agents.
Charles Olson left Hong Kong sometime after 1927.
*C.E.Warren and Co were listed as Sanitary Engineers, Tile Manufacturers, Granite and Marble Merchants and Monumentalists.
