Aubrey Vernon GREAVES [1886-1971]
Captain Aubrey Vernon Greaves moved from the West Indies to Canada in 1906. In 1916 he garduated from the University of Toronto in Medicine, and saw medical service in France in the last months of WW1. He joined the Colonial Medical Service in 1925 and in 1930 was appointed Director of the Pathological Institute at Hong Kong University.
In December, 1941 he served as part of the Nursing Detachment of the HKVDC and after the surrender was interned in Stanley. He was repatriated to Toronto in 1943 and worked on nutritional medicine there. His official retirement from Hong Kong was in 1947.
Note: Some sources give 1944 as the year of his repatriation but it seems more likely he went with the other Canadians in 1943, perhaps taking up his post in Toronto in 1944.
