This photo is from the 1928-1929 album of William Richmond Fell when the 4th Submarine Flotilla was patrolling off Wei Hai Wei. I notice that moddsey has identified a white building as the King's Hotel, Wei Hai Wei in a photo that was thought to be of Stanley beach.

Is the building in the background of this photo also of the King's Hotel?
WRF was obviously more interested in the junk. The sails don't look very wind proof. Does anyone know what they would have been made of?

May be the location is Wei…
May be the location is Wei Hai Wei (威海衛) at Shandong Province (山東省) of Mainland China, not Hong Kong.
King’s Hotel, Wei Hai Wei?
Both buildings seem very precariously perched, but the one in the Bristol photo looks positioned higher above the water. Maybe that's an illusion due to the difference in distance from the photographer?
