HMS Adamant

This photo is from an unsorted group in William Richmond Fell's archive. The legend on the back reads "Adamant & S/Ms in Hong Kong. HMS Adamant wasn't completed until February 1942. She was a submarine depot ship serving the nine T-class submarines of the 4th Submarine Flotilla. She may have been on her way to Colombo.

In 1942-45, Hong Kong was under Japanese occupation. Would the photo be post-war when W. R. Fell was in Hong Kong?

HMS Adamant was in Hong Kong in October 1946 with submarines, Tireless, Tally-Ho, Trenchant, Talent etc. In December of the same year, HMS Bonaventure and Adamant were in Hong Kong at the same time.

Thanks moddsey. I think we shoulld replace the 1942 date with 1946. WR Fell came back to Hong Kong on the Bonaventure in 1946 to transport the sick POWs and internees back for treatment. Perhaps the photo of HMS Adamant was taken in 1946.
