After the end of WW1, Peace Day Celebrations were held on 18-19 July 1919.
On Chater Road. The photo postcard shows the Hong Kong Club (2nd generation) and Statue Square decorated with national flags and bunting. At top right is a decorative shield for General Armando Diaz who was the Commander-in-Chief of the Italian Army. At bottom right is a partial view of the temporary stands erected on the northern side of the former Supreme Court building.
Note the pre-Cenotaph area of the Square in front of the main entrance of the Hong Kong Club.
