Broadwood Road came into being in 1915.  Number 13 was a two-storey villa built of granite and painted white.  It was different from the rest in that it had a tower towards the rear to take advantage of the views.

There was a zig-zag path that led down to Broadwood Road half way down the picture.

Because it was built on a ridge the villa had superb views of the racecourse and the peaks around. It had bungalows either side at 12 and 14.
