A principal street in Hong Kong [Pedder Street]

Uploaded from the Royal Commonwealth Society, hosted at the website of the University of Cambridge. See the original photo here.

On the right is the Hongkong Hotel with Mac's Cafeteria, mentioned in the Hong Kong Telegraph 1930-04-08, but already in the China Mail 1922-10-11 as Cafeteria.

I'm not sure if the north wing is still there - then it is pre-1926. If not, it could be 1930s.

Update: Date of the photo estimated to be 1925 from the comments below.

1925 (year is approximate)

The Pedder street rickshaw rank in the middle of the road is gone so it is at least 1924 or later. The North Wing of the HK Hotel is still visibly intact there so pre-1926. Tempting to say it’s 1924-1925.

The one view of the street looking the other way in 1925 was this:

The tall metal structure in the middle of Pedder street is not in the Royal Commonwealth Society photo so it’s likely to pre-date the c.1925 Pedder street photo. Not sure what that structure is.

Yes, the rickshaw rank is gone and was replaced by the taxicab stand "Pedder Street, outside G.P.O.". One can see the taxis by zooming into the photo. As the North Wing is sill there, 1925 is a good estimate.
