Uploaded from "University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China",  reference number: HR01-004  Uploaded with kind permission by the University of Bristol.

From the Henry Rue Collection, Rue was in Hong Kong between 1910 and 1913.

On the right is Pedder Street, the road on the left is D'Aguilar Street. The building on the left is is old Hong Kong Club Building, now occupied by Yee Sang Fat Co. Behind D'Aguilar Street is 36 Queen's Road, showing the sign of TAI WOO,  PHOTOGRAPHER.

On the university's website the following is added to the photo:

The large sign in Chinese on the left is for a Christian school for Chinese children (青年會 漢文學校), which is nowadays the Chinese YMCA Secondary School.

Is this correct and does anyone have information about the school?

In the description, the road or street on the left is Wyndham Street, which is out of sight.  Yes, D'Aguilar Street is further up in the centre on the left.

Sometimes entries on the university's website are not correct. This time I wonder where the Chinese letters 青年會 漢文學校 come from. The sign on the old HK Club Building shows only four.

> The sign on the old HK Club Building shows only four.

There are two rows of characters on the sign, three small on top and four larger below. The top three are very hard to see clearly, but maybe the university has a higher resolution scan that shows them.
