Unknown Location - maybe site of Queen's College at Staunton Street

This photo was part of an album by Alfred J May DSO sold at auction. I have been trying to locate where the photo was taken but have had no luck confirming anything. My current theory is that it was taken on the site of the future Queens College which would make the street in the background Staunton Street with the houses on the far left facing Aberdeen Street.

About Alfred J May DSO:

May's career began at St. John’s College, Hurstpierpoint c.1864-1873. He seems to have gone straight to Hong Kong around 1874-1875. May was appointed as the master-in-charge of St. Paul's College with 102 pupils in 1876. By 1881 May was third master at the Government Central School (later briefly Victoria College before becoming Queen's College), and in that year he became headmaster of the short-lived Normal School in Wanchai, designed to train teachers. This was closed in 1883, and May returned to the Government Central School. May seems to have been the master in charge of the two eldest forms, in which case Sun Yat-Sen was one of his pupils. May seems to have married around 1886 and lived at 3 Mountain View, The Peak. May & his family returned to England in 1907.
