Greeting Fanling Babies' Home visitors

Moddsey's suggestion of Sir David Trench being the subject of this picture would put the date between April 1964, when he was appointed, and 1966, when the Fanling Home moved to Taipo and became the Pine Hill Babies' Home.

Not sure, but the gentleman with his back to the camera and carrying his hat in his left hand may be the then Governor, Sir David Trench. Impressions are the photo is from the 1960s.

HK newspapers used to be diligent and dependable. Lo, even in the 60's.

His Excellency, the Governor, 

Sir David Trench, yesterday 

spent many hours visiting 

welfare organisations in the 

New Territories.      He chat- 

ted with the aged and joked with 

children. 

He was accompanied by Mr 

D. W. B. Haron, Director of 

Social Welfare.

Sir David's first visit was to 

several hundred children at the 

Children's Garden at Wu Kwai 

Sha, at the foot of Mak On 

Shan in Shatin. He went there 

by helicopter.

 

He then visited  the Fanling 

Babies' Home which is caring 

for more than 70 toddlers and 

infants.

The Governor next toured 

the spacious Precious Blood 

Children's Village in the same
