Text on Flickr:

The well known temple almost cannot be seen due to overgrown trees and illegal buildings around. Lower right hand - the building where restaurant 一定好荼樓 was in.

The white building centre left is the Market Street Public Toilet and Bathhouse.

Actually, the temple is out of view in this image - you can just see a corner of it (or at least the garden wall) on the left of the image with temple Street running right in front of it. The cluster of roofs in the central square was the market

In the top left of the image, it's a good illustration of how Temple Street (south of Market St) was shifted to the east slightly when the area was redeveloped. The current path of Temple Street runs along where the tenements were in the top left of the image

Hi Klaus, no Temple Street is on the left hand side, so that gap is most likely the alleyway between Temple Street and Shanghai Street. What you can see is the rear end of this building on the corner of Shanghai Street. The third storey is inset from the edge by quite a bit so the balconied lower floors seem to be part of another building. As mentioned in the image commentary, the building contained the 一定好荼樓. It's the same restaurant that is in the building I linked to.
