Early 20th century colour tinted postcard "HONG KONG HABOUR" taken from The Peak. Unposted, but on the reverse is written "X marks where we are laying". On the front said X in faded ink can be seen on the left, plus the annotations "MAIN LAND" and ""DOCK YARD" suggesting the writer may have been staying on a ship in the harbour. On this copy I've annotated buildings I think I've identified through study of other Gwulo pictures (and apologise for any errors as I'm no expert!)

Probably dated to the decade of the 1910s. The annotation of the Royal Naval Dockyard suggests the writer may have served on a HMS vessel moored in the harbour.
A minor amendment. Under the GPO is the Queen's Building.

1916 or later. There is a clear view of The Helena May Institute as it looked when first opened in 1916.

Moved this to the 1910s gallery as a result; an active period for HK postcard production it seems. I also noticed the lack of ships in the harbour compared to other photos. Something to do with WWI?
