This photo was originally dated '1920' for a date sometime in that decade.
I've brought it forward to 1929, as we can see the signal tower on Signal Hill has been extended (so 1928 or later) but has the timeball (so 1933 or earlier).
I have a fading memory of that pavilion that it was still there in the early 1970's until TSTE was starting to take shape and the Railway terminus moved to Hunghum.
Not sure but I think the original pavilion may have been demolished with this view of Chatham Road. I have seen a smaller Chinese pavilion situated in a similar location but it may be obscured by the trees in the referenced photo. Cheers!
