My mother, Corrine Ellery, was born in Shanghai in 1934, where she and her family were interned by the Japanese during the War. Upon liberation, they moved to Hong Kong and lived in a house on Cameron Road in Tsim Sha Tsui between 1946-1948, after which they moved to Havelock Terrace in Kowloon Docks. Initially, she and her sister Iris attended Diocesan Girls School until places became available for them at KGV. I believe this photo of my mother was taken outside her home at 3 Cameron Road in 1948 and that she is probably wearing the KGV summer uniform, not the Diocesan Girls School one. Is anyone able to confirm this? Also, does anyone recognise the building in the background?

Re: Photo
I think Corrine was on Cameron Road. One is looking east towards the junction with Carnarvon Road where the white buildings on both sides of the road are.
Corrine was not exactly standing outside No. 3 Carnarvon Road as the wall on the left is different from that seen in the initial photo here. I guess further down the road and nearer to Durbar House. The white building on the right has a distinctive circular window.
In the photo below there are two white buildings. These buildings were on Carnarvon Road between Prat Avenue and Cameron Road and may have been called the Kingsclere Hotel. Certainly, the building on the right was called that. The white building on the left was at the junction with Cameron Road.
Fortunately, one can view the distinctive circular window through the nearside building on the left below, that is the building closer to Cameron Road and can make reference to this building and the road junction seen in the main photo.
The two white buildings in the main photo at the junction of Cameron and Carnarvon Roads can be viewed in the overhead photo below.

Thank you moddsey for your great detective work once again. It's amazing how you are able to piece this all together.
