European House #9, is a very similar build to House #10 and it gives us a good idea how #10 would have looked prior to its destruction in the war. Sturdy build with roof reinforced with extra masonry against the typhoon season. Wooden shutters on windows and doors, hinged at the top. (see front of house)
On the left, at the rear of the house, we see the annex which housed the kitchen, pantry and servants’ rooms.
The house faced south east, presumably to catch the sun on the front of the house. This must be an evening shot on the SW side of the house. Shutters are closed against the sun.
Like #10, this house was also owned by the CVM (Canton Villages Mission) and used by staff on vacation.

House of CCIL 23
This photo is highly likely to be the house of CCIL 23.
From the 1960 map (soruce: hkmaps.hk), CCIL 23 is facing northeast.
By simulating the similar view of the photo in Open3DHK, similar landscape features can be identified:
The shape of Hei Ling Chau, Sunshine Island, Green Island, Mt. Davis in the photo are similar compared to the simulated viewing angle.

Other locations of European houses, e.g. #4 to #8, are not closed to such a group of rocks near the coast or in different orientations.
Re: #9 house
Hi There,
The current group of houses located in the site of the former #9 house was inaugurated in 2012, according to SHK's website. No mention of when was the old house was demolished though.
