I recall that one weekend afternoon an impatient car driver managed to evade the loading operatives and drove on down the ramp in order to get aboard a ferry that had already cast off and departing to Jordon Road.
Inevitably his car did not reach the ferry’s deck as it slid away from under the ramp and the car splashed into the harbour. I do not believe there were any fatal casualties, just a very wet family.
Probably not the first time it had happened.
