I well remember arriving into Stanley Camp from Bowen Road, and entering Stanley on this day together with the Sewell family, and the rest. I was lost in the Battle for Hong Kong, and this is fully described in my book. This is fully documented in my book with unrefuted evidence of my presence in Stanley Camp. Apart from an entry in "Not The Slightest Chance" by Tony Banham it appears I remain "lost" in this community and became incognito throughout my six month stay, even though I participated in all community events and attended school. I discussed this with Barbara Anslow at her home before she passed away, and she was quite mystified herself that she was not aware of my presence. I will be quite happy if anybody can remember me but it is highly unlikely as most of my contact names are probably not alive.

Hello Robert,

I’m afraid the war is well before my time but I thought I’d still say hello as you worked with my father (Bill Bennett) for many years and I recently read your book with real interest. Although I only spent a few years of my childhood in Hong Kong, its influence on me through my parents has been quite profound and the name Bob Tatz is so familiar to me. I have been back a couple of times and took my own family there in 2016 for a holiday when I had a strangest sense of coming home. It would be lovely to hear from you.

Best wishes,

Robert Bennett

Hi Robert,

Delighted to read your comments. Yes, your mother and dad were very special to me during my time with Jardines, and even afterwards. I seem to recall I might have met you in Sunderland when I was visiting your dad after his retirement. If you have the second edition of my book my email is shown on the Copywrite page. If not you can reach me at btz.19@shaw.ca.

All the best,

Bob
